Three Minutes into ROOTS

Alex Haley was supposed to be my commencement speaker, but unfortunately passed away before that could happen.

In his place, we got an undersecretary of the Department of Education whose main message was that we probably wouldn't earn as much as our parents, and then painted a bleak outlook for the future.

That is what I love about this place!!
Thirty year old news!!
Loved the book, loved the movie.
I was saddened to read back in the '90's that the book was plagiarized.

Hey, we're slow but we're good!

Never knew that about the fraud. That is a shame...I cannot believe it took nearly 20 years for that to hit the cover of Village Voice.

I too saw it when it premiered. I thought it was quite well done for the time frame of when it was filmed.
