Well, I undertand about iTunes now but I still don't understand why Apple charges for the updates to a product. I had to pay 20.00 for reinstall disks from SOny for my baby Vaio but I don't expect that from Apple...

the same reason they charge to update iLife from '06 to '08 or ms office from 2004 to 2008.

Apple doesn't normally let you return a product because it gets scuffed up.
And getting a *new* product from Apple that comes pre-scuffed is also rare.

Suzanne, it's not an "update," it's an upgrade. Really. Now, Sony--yeah, that's a rip-off.

You bet (Sony) but out of the gate VISTA got corrupted and I need to reinstall so ... you either limp along or pay the $20.00 for disks here-to-for were given with the computer. Where are the days you got the actual program disks like WIN, WORD etc etc? When will the worm turn?
