Make sure that both of you have your firewalls off.

Make sure that your router is Bonjour-friendly.

What OS is the iMac running? What about your computer?

I've had problems trying to print from 10.5 to an iMac running 10.3. I found a bit of code to type into Terminal that fixed things until I updated 10.5 to 10.5.2.

I just updated the iMac from 10.3 to 10.4 and everything works now...
