I'm inclined to think "they" don't want us to see the full report because it is full of mistakes on the part of every law enforcement agency involved. We aren't meant to see what incredible ineptitude was endemic to the event. Not because they are hiding a second shooter or some such thing. Honestly, would anybody even give a damn if there turns out to be a second shooter? Aside from the Told You So enjoyment, it would change nothing.


Huh.

This never occurred to me.

But it makes a lot of sense.

Most of the ineptitude could have been discovered and analyzed without ever seeing JFK's body.

The fact that it was sealed leads me to believe there are questions or explanations that would clear up at least some conspiracy theories, possibly without raising new ones, but that might be me just being naive.

Second shooter, foreign power direct evolvement, oh it didn't happen the way we thought it did and is our face red and we're waiting for the idiots to be dead...

I think we deserve to know, by now.

Of course, there are possibilities best discussed on The Other Side instead of mucking this side of the pond up, that might mean now would not be a viable time, but earlier or later would have been/would be better.

The people who were involved with the investigation are probably all deceased by now. Let the truth be known then. There is still a lot of questions surrounding Oswald's ability to make the shot, let alone the single bullet theory.

Actually that is mostly inaccurate. Some parts were sealed under a 75 year rule that has since been repealed. Most of what wasn't revealed were tax records of some persons involved in the investigation. All of the rest was turned over to the National Archives and is available with redactions of names of living intelligence resources and intelligence gathering methods still in use. Trump delayed some material from being released until 2021, most of that was released at the beginning of this year.
