I feel better now. - We're On A Mission From God

Considering that this would take a Constitutional amendment, which, if I recall correctly, requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress, and then must be ratified by 3/4 of the States, perhaps you could elaborate on the process you envision that would end up legislating your beliefs out of existence?

After that, please reconcile your statement with the fact that neither the President nor Vice-President has any formal say in the amendment process.
Are you suggesting that Bush has had no effect on national policy in regard to the encroachment of religion into government?

I responded to the following:

[quote Black Landlord]It gets scary when I consider that this person would love to legislate my beliefs out of existence, and may get the chance to do so.
First, unless a new amendment repealing the 22nd has been passed, what does President Bush have anything to do with this discussion? I assume "this person" meant Governor Palin, but for the sake of the discussion, would extend it to Senator Obama, Senator Biden, and Senator McCain, since we seem to be talking about the upcoming election.

Second, your original statement has to do with the government encroaching on religion, not religion into government. I'm not making any statements on the later. On the former, I don't see how a President or Vice President (plus Congress) could legislate your beliefs out of existence without going in direct violation of the First Amendment.

I doubt she wants to do this, but then again, I'm not sure what you mean, so I don't know.

>>You don't find the assertion that God ordered the war on Iraq to be frightening?

I noticed that the author of the story said this, but I didn't see where she said it. I interpret what she is saying quite a bit differently, unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

>>"God told me to initiate global nuclear destruction to bring about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ"

I don't get this and think it's mostly a misunderstanding. From what I remember of the Bible, God initiates the "Final Days". It's not our job to initiate it. At any rate, to say that what's going on in the middle east may be the beginning of the "end", isn't the same as saying what's in your quote. kj.

My example was of the "God told me..." mentality.

God told me that he doesn't, and I believe him.
