To applecare or not to applecare, that is the survey.

Wish folks would be specific about their model when mentioning their motherboard failure.

Applecare for iMacs yes, because unfortunately iMacs are still having repair issues (not as bad as with the G5 models, but still...)

And while my MacBook still runs fine, the lower case cracked after the palmrest cracked all along the edges (both sides) out of warranty.

White?

There's a recall on that now.

I was just about to post it.

Also note that Applecare on the iMac will cover your Airport Extreme, Time Capsule, etc if you got 'em.

And if you sell it, having some remaining warr should add at least a little to resale value.

My grand daughter's iMac is sitting on my desk with the monitor showing only colored lines and when I checked, the applecare has expired. :cursin:

I'm going to see if I can start it in target mode and save her files for another computer.

BTW, this is the first Mac computer to go bad in all my years of owning macs.

Which model? Lampshade? Bondi-blue? G5?
Intel 20" iMac that I had given her as a hand me down.

I started it in target mode this morning and copied her music, photo's and other stuff to my iMac.

My wife asked the Apple Rep what he thought and he said it could be anything from a cable to the lcd
and/or the motherboard.
