I had AM stock and got some Chrysler for it. I think Michelle is setting up a hotline at the Whitehorse on Warranty service. No problemo

Remember Chrysler? Lee Iacocca had to get bail out financing for them after they bought American Motors (Rambler). This is Chrysler second go round of going belly up.

I knew that the bail out and repayment were all over before AMC was purchased without even having to look it up. Did go out and check on the dates to get those exact.

I know the bill was paid back....that is the point tho...this is the second time around for Chrysler...they paid the first debt but will this debt be paid back? Alll I know is I got stock for the AM stock I owned. Rambler was going belly up on its own and didn't do much for Chrysler whenever they bought it.

Isn't this the 3rd time for GM?

Point is you said they got the bailout after buying AMC, which did not happen for another 8 years afterwards. And that purchase had nothing to do with the financial problems Chrysler was having as it converted its product lines in the early '80's. As for you latest assertion, the AMC car division part of the purchase did not do much for Chrysler, but the Jeep division did. Though in the end they became too dependent on it and their own truck/SUV lines for profits which disappeared with the high gas prices. Though in the end we will have to wait and see if this one works, I don't see someone with the leadership ability of Iacocca leading either Chrysler or GMC. |
