hp 311 netbook hackintosh follow up

they're completely different devices. its the difference between iphone os and os x.

i've been successfully running os x dev tools on my hp mini. ipad is never going to do that.

You mean iPad and MacBook are completely different, or iPad and netbook? I totally understand the differences between iPad and Macs... Anyway, I am at Dell site now in another tab checking out prices.

You think the HP is better than the Dell? For reference, I am now using a 12" G4 iBook, Pismo, MacBook, and old PowerMac G4 933 MHz. So, anything I get from here will be much faster than what I presently use. For me though, speed is a moot point, but portability and having a full Mac OS, not iPad OS, is critical for my work.

Well, I just configured the HP 311 with 3 GB RAM, which requires getting Windows 7, and added a little extra in other areas - it came to $620! Still a lot cheaper than the refurb MBA at $1,100. I do need to have at least 2 GB RAM, hard drive can be 120 GB or so. Still researching... Anyway, thanks matt, good to know the HP 311 will run OS X.

yeah, they're slapping on a sucker tax.
