Gizmodo says the new 15" MBP is "so fast"
#21
As mentioned before in the forum and in the USB article on Wikipedia:

"Intel will not support USB 3.0 until 2011, which will slow down mainstream adoption. These delays may be due to problems in the CMOS manufacturing process, a focus to advance the Nehalem platform or a tactic by Intel to boost its upcoming Light Peak interface. Current AMD roadmaps indicate that the new southbridges released in the beginning of 2010 will not support USB 3.0. Market researcher In-Stat predicts a relevant market share of USB 3.0 not until 2011."

Dude, what's faster than the 330M in mobile?

The 350M and 360M, or some of the SLI options. Possibly ATi options too.

Sure, but Apple's claim is "everything's faster." So what if relevant market share isn't predicted until 2011?

It's got "Turbo Boost." No joke.

That was the only disappointing thing I saw, but it really bugs me.

It sounds like DELL's or Comcast's, or somebody's really poor marketing. Sound's like really cheap spin.

It *does* sound like a joke.

I had an old 486 DX 25 machine at work with a turbo button, it OC'd to 33 Mhz. Woohoo!

All the high end 256 bit GPU's from the previous THREE generations are likely faster than the 330M:
GeForce GTS 250M to GeForce GTX 285M (some came in SLI configurations)
GeForce 9800M GS to GeForce 9800M GTX (some came in SLI configurations)
8800M GTS to 8800M GTX (some came in SLI configurations)

And that is leaving out the related Quadro (fixed spelling) versions. For ultimate graphics performance, the MacBook "Pro" has been the weak sister since about six months after it was introduced.
