Need some advice regarding a graduation/ceremony issue

An honor society I was in during college had us wear cords at graduation. They were pretty much just two different colored ropes with tassels on the end that we wore around our neck.

The school I went to for grad had similar cords that were worn to designate who graduated cum laude and so forth. Some students wore three or four different sets for different honors earned and groups in during graduation.
