The original "phantom data" glitch was discovered when Windows Phone 7 users were hit with higher-than-usual data charges, resulting from phones transmitting and downloading data without users' knowledge. The flaw caused some users to run over bandwidth caps on network usage, as much as 50-gigabytes per day in some extreme situations.
