Al Gore is my choice.
If something happens to Steve, how about Woz as new CEO?

I am almost inspired by the Arnel Pineda/ Journey story as I am by the Steve Jobs/Apple story.
It's a perfect model for how to replace someone who's irreplaceable-- you go off in a completely different direction than anyone would ever expect. For millions of fans, because of Arnel, Journey is now an exciting here-and-now phenomenon, rather than just wallowing in past glory. If Apple does need to find a new CEO I think it would be cool if they found a filipino guy on Youtube. Would be fine with me if he was a little younger and cuter than Arnel . . .

Steve#2: I already did that with spare parts from a pinball machine and a Happy Meal toy. Steve#1: I bet we could sell that for a FORTUNE! Steve#2: I need another pinball machine. Are you hungry? How's McD's sound?

Is Steve Jobs CEO or a "consultant"? Big difference.

I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

Woz was never in a capabilities position to do any more than he was doing.
Even organizing events like those west coast "woodstock" were major events just beyond his capabilities - even with all the other planning/organizational talent that was part of a team selected to make those events a success. Anyone who makes (and on more than one occasion) stupid statements like"Well... it was time for the stock to correct itself and reflect its true value" - or sentiments that were similar to such - rank among the most ignorant for "corporate executive" that I've ever heard. Teaching 7th graders math is where he belongs - his contributions acknowledged certainly, but him limitations having been demonstrated far too many times, and publicly at that.

Wozy Wonka and the Amazing Apple Factory.
Woz would be best as the head curator of a National Children's Museum.

POMTL, N-OS!
I was laughing even before I saw the sign! Two for two, now would not be time to change the philosophy, however corporate in may or may not be.

Woz as CEO?
For once all the pundit headlines would be right. Apple really would be DOOMED! Of course, now that I think about it, the pundits would probably declare Woz to be "The one man that can carry on for Steve Jobs"… right before Woz introduced the revamped Apple line up of the segPhone, segPod Touch, segPod nano, segMac, seg Pro, seg mini, segBook and segBook Pro, and announced that Jonathan Ive was being replaced by Dean Kamen, whose first statement to the press would be, "Soon every office in America will designed around the segMac." The new Apple's first PR crisis would come just a few days later when a British man, following the GPS on his segPhone, walks off a cliff. |
