[music] Listening to Chicago II
#11
I liked the first CTA album better than II but I've always enjoyed them, particularly the horn section.

Same with Tower of Power and an old local band called The Loading Zone.

Big horn sections, playing tight complicated riffs, are truly amazing.

I'm a horn lover too. In addition to what you've mentioned, some of the tightest horns I've heard are on some old Al Jarreau albums. Al is a vocalist but some of his tracks have some incredible stuff by Jerry Hey and gang. This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJpSsobogE0 is an example. Kind of poor audio--not enough treble which really kills the trumpet sound. The good stuff starts at about 6:00 and the best of it kind of gets lost in the fadeout.
