iOS 5 Golden Master!...end of September :-(
#11
My 3G is useless. Something is running in the background that eats the battery alive. Every once in a while a batch of updates will fix it, but then the problem comes back. It is SLOW to the point of being near useless. I've been hanging on waiting for the iPhone 5. First it was rumored in July, then September, now October... I can't wait much longer.

My dad is planning to get an iPhone 5, and that may mean that I'll get his iPhone 3GS, and that may mean that my daughter gets my iPhone 1 (which was my dad's prior to him getting an iPhone 3G, which he then gave to his wife when he got a 3GS).

Confusing, huh?

No, it's not confusing. My wife wants an iPhone 5 so that my three-year-old son can get her 3GS, which is an upgrade over the 2G he's been using, which was mine before I got the iPhone 4. Ok, so he doesn't use it as a phone. But it's loaded with apps, and it keeps him entertained on long car rides. With the 3GS, it'll run a whole bunch more (newer) apps that need iOS 4.x.

Yeah, my 8 1/2 year old daughter won't be using the phone part of my iPhone, but she loves the apps.

My dad is definitely very "tech cool"....he is the trailblazer technologically speaking...he's got more disposable cash than me! He's 77, and awesome!

i kept my 3G at 3.1.3 and it's still pokey.

don't feel like losing text history with a restore at this point, either.
