Go for it. If you're worried the beans will go stale in the hopper, just put in enough for that day's brew and keep the rest sealed up. A burr grinder does make a bigger difference than you'd expect.

BTW, I believe in keeping roasted beans sealed up, but not in the freezer or fridge. I've heard harmful moisture will condense on the beans when you take them out. It makes sense.
