New Boy Genius Rumor: There IS an iPhone 5 and only Sprint will have it

AT&T might not mind it, either - the original iPhone 4s are all within their 24 month contracts.

And for all of us who wanted an iPhone but refused to work with AT&T, well, we jumped on Verizon and still have ~16 months on contract. So I'm not sure who Sprint is going to sell these too, except all those iPhone 3GS customers that have been waiting for the iPhone 5. How many of those are there? I suppose one could simply go back and look at ATT's 3GS sales from 24-30 months ago to get an idea.

I don't know, Gabster. Not everyone jumped to Verizon. In addition to non-ATT/VZ users (like T-Mo, MetroPCS, U.S. Cellular), there are probably a lot of out-of-contract Sprint people--like me--who are waiting to see if an iPhone from Sprint will be an option. That won't help Sprint's subscriber numbers but it would stop the bleeding as well as sell a lot of iPhones.

...with every penny of my imaginary AAPL.

New rumors this late in the game seem more often that not to be true, for the most part.

The CEO of Sprint told somebody that they knew they wouldn't be getting the iPhone this time round. I suppose that could have been misdirection.

I just can't see Sprint getting exclusivity for the next iPhone. I just don't see them offering AT&T enough to get that.

Ah, well, we'll know all in just a few hours.

...That was the T-Mobile CEO.

I don't care if they have it exclusively. I do want Sprint to have it. I won't do business with AT&T or Verizon if I can help it.
