There is no longer a pricing sweet spot with regards to when you book a flight.
Hmmm . . . was a very recent article, like 3 weeks ago. Informal study kinda thing. I'll see if I can find it.
What I have found is that there are certain periods of the year where fares can be dramatically different. I've also found that flying on Mondays or Tuesdays or Thursdays usually yielded the lowest fares.
This is roughly what I've come to expect.

One consideration (having been to neither but knowing a few people who are very familiar with both) is that you may find Istanbul so interesting that just that short of a time will leave you with regret more than amusement.

Was in Zurich this summer for a couple of days. Nothing too impressive. There must be two Watch billboard ads for every one person in the airport. Of course it is much cheaper to buy the same watch when you get home.

Istanbul sounds so much more adventuresome!

You can alway just go to Milwaukee. Much cheaper to travel to and you can hit the Brat Stop in Racine on the way home!

Thanks, folks.
Istanbul wins this round.
Stay tuned to find out which cities go head to head for the return trip.
