Chinese and others buying US homes

Nothing new here. A couple of decades back, a certain nervous family took an interest in our little neighborhood. So they started to buy up houses, paying list price, and in cash. To say that they were absentee landlords is putting it mildly, they apparently didn't care if the rent was paid on time, or even at all; such things didn't concern them much.
When things cooled down back home, all the houses were put on the market at the same time, and they took a bath on the sales. It was but a trifle to them, Hong Kong real estate was going through the roof.
