Does that Paint with Primer work?
#11
Hi everyone,

Just one other thing... Don't skimp on the paint for the bathroom and/or the kitchen. Definitely purchase Bath and Spa paint of some kind as it is designed to handle the heat and humidity.

We used regular interior paint on the bathroom of our old apartment. Benjamin-Moore Regal. Over time, the adhesive component of the paint leaked through over time, specifically in the ceiling over the tub and shower. We ended up having to repaint the bathroom. The paint shop recommended Aura Bath and Spa. No problems at all after the new paint job.

As a result, we made sure to use Aura Bath and Spa in both bathrooms and the kitchen of the new apartment. You could say we learned from the mistake we made in the old apartment. Definitely worth the expense to go with Aura Bath and Spa for those areas. The Regal Select came out great everywhere else.

The Benjamin Moore paint we bought was only paint, can't remember what series, but definitely no primer in it. I made sure of that before bought it.

Dave I hope yours turns out ok, didn't mean cause alarm.

I've been getting good results with Behr paint from Home Depot. 2 coats and it's good.

1 coat paint is a pipe dream.

My secret to painting success is to tint the primer. It doesn't have to end up being exactly the same as the paint, but doing this is the best way to get maximum coverage out of whatever paint you end up using.

Learned this trick from a blind man.

I've had good success with one coat wall paint in a taupe color. It covered drywall patches in one coat, where regular paint requires two. I was impressed. I'm sure the color has a lot to do with it, though.

I just painted my bathroom with Valspar from Lowes in Taupe, it's been extremely warm and dry here in Oregon for the last month or two, the paint dried within an hour with a single coat were I used the roller and two coats where I used a brush. This was painting over white walls. A lot depends on the color you are using, some darker or more vibrant colors use a clear base and take more coats to cover completely.

We painted primer onto the drywall, then had texture applied, and then painted 4 coats of lowe's Valspar paint to get an even color. I suspect we should have put a layer of primer on top of the texture before painting.
