Back in my Navy days, when I was young and foolish and would have spent more on a stereo system than a car, I would regularly visit the base exchange and drool over these:

Huge, 5' 3" floor-standing speakers.
Fortunately(?) I never managed to have enough to buy them.
I ended up with a pair of Cerwin-Vegas with 15" woofers and horn tweeters & midrange. Loud enough to get the shore patrol up to the barracks at 2 AM.

They came in a black laminate case that has held up pretty well after being dragged around from place to place over the last 25 years.
Still have them (part of the 7.1 system).
the base exchange sold SDAs?
I have the progenitor of those, the 10A. bought them about 10yrs ago for very cheap, in original boxes. they are now in my attic, back in their original boxes.
Cerwin-Vega: I found a great pair of Cizek speakers (mostly a regarded local brand) that have CV drivers. they are great, especially for the $20 I paid.

Those were the days... My cousin bought me a BX-2 in japan for about half what they cost here (I was lucky to afford even that), but the dragon was so cool. kj.
