Adding ram to either is as easy as it was on your current iMac.

You are right jdc but only on the 27"iMac 2012 not the 21"2012 iMac.
I forgot about that.:banghead:

I still have about 2 weeks to decide which way to go . . .

My wife has that very i7 iMac and it is fast. I added an SSD (thanks, OWC; original drive is still in the iMac, too) and upped the RAM to 18 GBs. FWIW, I paid $1k for the iMac and about $500 for the upgrades this past winter.
