No more quad i7 Mac Mini
#31
And… most mini users won't really care about the PCIe thing.

Few will open it up to add storage. External enclosures with HDDs or SSDs are just to easy to use.

Another tidbit: Apple is no longer throwing in the DVI adapter. You now have to buy it, yourself with your new Mini.

(It's noted here as "sold separately.")

Pfft, thats stupid.

Its like when you buy a printer and it doesn't come with a USB cable, but XXXX could sell you one... for $29.

$8 a monoprice for the TB to DVI adapter, but of course you would have to wait for it...

I'm pleased that I pulled the trigger on a new Mac mini a couple of months back, even though I knew it would cause a new mini to be released- this seems to have played out in my favor. I bought one new, off eBay- with 16GB RAM, and the i7 quad core for less than $1k. I do have various Firewire devices lying around, and it is useful to be able to use them without buying yet another adapter. The computer should have enough horsepower to last a decent while yet.....
cheers

Argh, this sucks. I need to buy a few Minis. This makes it much harder. I was hoping quad core (will likely run Windows at the same time) 8GB of RAM and SSD.

The dual-core 2.6GHz with 256GB Flash Storage is $900. I think I'm going to have to go with Windows machines at that price.

Newegg doesn't have the quad core BRIX with the Nvidia GTX 760, so you need to decide between a quad core i7 with onboard graphics or a fast dual core and a relatively powerful discrete GPU.
