This limitation does not apply to the OP machine which is newer.
OP did not list the model number. While not a MacBookPro, I believe the MacBook 7,1 listed in the caveat is a mid 2010 product.
SSD recommendation Mid 2010 13" MBP

240-256 GB is the sweet spot, wouldn't waste my money on 128 GB.
Agreed. Even if you didn't need the extra storage, I've read that some SSDs give superior performance with 256G or bigger because of additional "lanes". Now, somebody here should be able to talk more knowledgable about that. It may be restricted to the Sandforce controller, I don't know. But i've seen this reference severe times. For the money, I think it's best just to go with 256G, in general, for a smaller SSD.

In addition to possible speed advantages, the other argument for a 250 gb drive is you pay only about 50% more for 100% more storage.

Yes, everyone said to go at least 256GB - that's the current sweet spot. I really don't need that much space on my laptop. I just want something a little snappier than it is. I picked up a Pony 120GB drive from Amazon for $51 shipped. I'll throw it in and see how it does. Didn't want to spend the $$ for a 512GB to upgrade my desktop and just used my Discover cashback to get this off Amazon. Hopefully, I will like it.
