[quote Mike Johnson]I'm just curious, how many people here can stop hiccuping after one or two? I can't be the only one.
About 15 years ago I figured out how to make 'em stop (for myself, at least). I take very long, slow, deliberate breaths while focusing on my diaphragm, keeping it relaxed. In a very short time -- usually less than a minute -- the spazzing diaphragm cycle is broken.
When I first discovered it, I'd put my head down on a desk or table, like we used to do as kids in grade school, but now it's no longer necessary. Just quiet the mind, quiet the diaphragm, and control the breath. (This must be some bastardized form of yoga. :-))
I tried to show a few people how to do it, but none of them even wanted to try. Never could understand that; it can't be considered that weird, can it?
