Does anyone else find this a bit unsettling. For me this is right in the middle of the uncanny valley when it's whole range of movements begin to mimic a life form. When they come for us, it won't be a human shaped terminator but something like that. And it will have frikin' laser beams too!

Kim Jong Un wants one when they figure out how to mount an anti-aircraft gun on it. For peaceful education processes of course.

Now I want you to imagine this as a wheelchair type device, carrying a paralyzed human. Of course calmed down a bit so the jiggly human bits don't break.

That would be wonderful, but I can just see law enforcement using them for crowd control during protests/demonstrations/etc. And of course the military applications would be virtually endless...
Ummm..... yeah. Who do you think is funding Boston Dynamics for this research?

It's all Pentagon, baby.

I hope they are also investing in how to control it, otherwise this giant can of hubris will open itself sooner than later. http://www.ted.com/talks/sam_harris_can_...ol_over_it

This stuff is amazing and I hope I live long enough to see robots out and about in the world. It will make up for not having jetpacks and flying cars.

Er, did you ever see Robocop? Things could get ugly real fast when they take over...
Or the original Judge Dredd?
