T-Ball coach sends out a list of equipment for the parents to purchase... $$$
#41
Put two kids through association and then school sports.

The people who seem to be drawn to these kid coaching jobs ... many times ... I strongly believe that they should instead be in therapy.

We had an 8th grade football coach who tried to make every parent sign some kind of 'no commenting on the coach's decisions'. Like, ever, with other parents, or anyone.

He didn't really understand freedom of speech and how you can't really make parents sign that away in regards to their children.

I'd strongly consider suicide if I had to attend an AAU basketball game every day.

Good thing we had a girl, requirements were all of the following - soccer (when younger) - shin guards, soccer ball; volleyball - knee pads, volleyball (OK, league play required spandex and volleyball shoes); basketball - nothing, (community league gave each kid a basketball upon registration); rowing - umm... nothing (OK, no loose fitting clothes); bicycling - helmet, swimming - Speedo.

Without their own glove, how do you have a catch with them at home? They'll never learn to catch as a result of one game a week.

Who said anything about not buying a glove? Of COURSE each player needs his own glove! A glove is playing equipment -- my comments addressed the excessive requirements for protective gear.

I still have my very first glove, which I got when I was four or five. It's a bit the worse for wear, having been used at one point as a tug-of-war toy by two of our dogs, but it's still usable.

And then there's the glove that was stolen from me when I was a teen. No glove, before or since, was as perfect or fit me as perfectly as that glove. To this day I still lament its loss, forty years later.

FYI:
Youth cleats for 4 yo. at Walmart $7.00.
No brand. China Specials. Black and white. Sloppy glue seams. But hey, shoe laces are included! Hah.

Hopefully they will stay intact this first season of 15 or so games and practice.

The kids shouldn't share helmets - my son got lice because someone used his personal helmet.

Coincidentally. JUST LAST NIGHT my son's pre-school teacher sent out an email saying someone in the class has lice. The incubation period is xxxx (don't remember offhand what she wrote) and to keep en eye on his head. Luckily he has short hair. Ughhh... GROSS!!

At that age, that's only as long as they would need to last.
