The price of a genuine versus a "compatible" toner cartridge

I once bought a USB cable, got a printer for free...

If people would be willing to pay full price for a printer, companies would not have to do the cartridge BS. Isn't there a brand selling super-sized cartridges but charging full price? I wonder if that's going ok.

My last brother color printer gave up the ghost, and I wonder if it has to do with the generic toner that I used. It was streaky, messy, and obviously poor quality.

We replaced it with a Canon. The Ginuwine toner is quite good at printing brochures with pictures, and I’ve been afraid to use generic refills after my last experience.
