My husband also says part of this is likely driven by short covering by the people who shorted it recently.

It is nutz.
Congrats to those who have ridden it up. Don’t wait too long to sell (nor, God forbid, buy if it starts going down). This market is a bubble waiting to pop.

What other EV makers? I'm only half joking. I think Jaguar sold around 4000 iPace EVs last year. Tesla sells that in less than a week. You're thinking "OK, but what about the Chevy Bolt?" I think GM sold 16k Bolts in 2019. That's about 3 weeks of sales for Tesla. They have NO competition yet. Do they sell as many vehicles as GM or Toyota or VW? No, not even close...yet. But when it comes to EV sales they dominate.
Correction: Jaguar sold about 16k iPace EVs too. https://insideevs.com/news/433402/jaguar...s-q2-2020/ Carnos Jax wrote:

ztirffritz, I am with you on this. It takes a good day for me to hide my cynicism for the other major auto makers. Guess I’m really talking about companies like Rivian and a few others. But truth be told, Sometimes I think only tesla seems to be serious about bringing EV’s to the masses.

Masses? When your product line starts at over $40k, that’s not a mainstream item (yet). Maybe someday.

Actually it is. You’re not calculating the total cost of ownership. Your $40,000-$50,000 Tesla is equivalent to like a $30,000 Honda accord or Camry.

Tack on any govt subsidies and you're looking at a pretty good deal.
