I got a call from 800-828-9980 was it a call from J.M.Smucker or a scam?

It was probably Sal Monella calling. I hear he's making the rounds for Smucker lately.

I'm gonna go with the call was from Costco - they know your contact info, and your product buying history.

Looks like Sal’s recall department is well staph-ed.

Very punny thread, well done.

But I find it highly unlikely anybody would be calling over this.

Possible, sure.

But Costco pouring over purchase histories so someone could call you about this?

Doubtful.

But since I say so, they probably did.

Call Costco or email Corporate and see if they're doing anything about the recall.

I'm pretty sure Costco has contacted me in the past about a recalled product, I don't recall if it was via phone, US Mail or both.

I did get a call from Costco (I think from corporate HQ) some years back about an item.

I would have answered in a Jif.

But seriously, Instacart sent me a Food Safety email ... decent of them to have done that, but they don't offer any remedy for the bad jars other than referring to the FDA link. I feel like when there's a product recall, the manufacturer or retailer should reimburse for the cost of the item, considering that it wasn't the consumer's fault that there's something wrong with it.

Edit: FYI, I contacted Instacart about it, and they're crediting me the cost. Score!
