Starting a copy of my TM backup to another drive - wish me luck
#1
I've turned on 'Prevent computer from falling asleep automatically when the display is off'. I've shut down unused software.

I'm guessing that it will actually succeed, but will take 48 hours - maybe I'm being overly optimistic...

It's been 5 minutes and so far we've made it to the 'preparing to copy 227,295 items' stage. I remember having such a sense of pride when my Norton Utilities told me that it was about to work on my OVER 10,000 files - wow! This thing will probably top 1,000,000 before it starts to copy...

it failed several hours later because the new drive was not big enough - ugh... the drives are identical

downloaded Superduper and it's copying along at almost 100mb/s - about the top speed of the drive. Off to bed...

Excellent!

I wonder if a sudo ditto in Terminal would have gone faster (or worked at all)
