Microsoft had only just begun testing Teams when Covid hit. Microsoft had a broken version of Teams, Google had Meet, Apple had Facetime, and Zoom was just rolling into the market.

I think there were several more, I remember WebX being one. What I mainly remember is that it seemed like every time my wife needed to participate in a video meeting it was a new app/platform that she had never used before, and I had to "set it up" for her. No consistency at her company, seemed like every employee got to choose.

Skype was a revelation a long time ago. My 2009 self will miss it.

We had Skype and Teams.

The "kids" used Teams and the "olds" used Skype.

I preferred Skype because I just wanted a messaging app.

Teams tried to be everything and sucked at it.
