My dad is the world's greatest in finding awesome deals that include buy-one-get-one-free and all sorts of other deals.

I can tell you I get twice as much cool stuff because of it!

I used to think it was funny, because as we opened our gifts, dad would have a running commentary on the special deals he found. Hey, this spindle of CDs were actually free after mail-in rebate!! I think my Christmas present this year is 4GB of RAM for my iMac that was $25 after rebate, with free shipping! No complaints here!!

I think it made Christmas even more fun, and especially fun for him.

He did find refurb iPod shuffles one Christmas, and gave them to my brother and his daughter. They were happy to get them, and did know that they were refurbs.

I've never seen a refurb look anything less than new...so I'd say "go for it!"

I gave 2 refurbed iPod nanos last year, and the recipients loved them. They look new, and once they open a new one, it is the same as a refurbed one anyway.

remember, anyone you date who isn't a virgin is "used", not even refurbed. Would that stop you from enjoying their "gift" to you?

Purchased a new 2nd gen 16gig for daughter (only got new because I wanted it engraved).

My kids purchased thier mother (my ex) a refurbed 16 gig 1st gen. She knows what refurbs are and doesn't care.

The 'new' one is in the plastic snap together case. The refurb is in a white generic iPod box (it's shrinkwrapped to an inner card). When you put them side by side they both look new and come with all parts.

You could buy a 'new' empty iTouch box. I purchased a refurb Macbook (no secret upgrades Sad ) and purchased a 'new' macbook box and inner foam for $10 off ebay. Not buying to to fool anyone...for ONCE the Apple refurb box looked like crap. I have other generic laptop boxes..but I figures for $10 I got a real white Macbook box.

Bottom line...if she KNOW'S your saving money and is cool with it...get a refurb.
