Anyone Interested In Picking Up A (potentially) Cheap G5?
#11
I sold my dual 2.0 G5 for $500 on CL last week. I know I probably could've gotten more, but I was leaving town for the holidays, and didn't want it sitting around for 3 weeks until I got back to try to sell it. I'm now free of PPC macs.

Tonight, I'm going to look at a powermac G5 with a 1.6 Ghz w/17 in lcd monitor that the guy's asking $200. I would think the monitor is probably worth about that. I'll see.

Shoot, those were pretty good closing prices, actually. Could have definitely used one or two of those for various clients to build out as servers or whatever.

What good is a brand new AppleCare for a three year old computer?

for $275--$310 for shipping, I was willing, but $330 was the final bid on the 2ghz dualie I wanted--add $34 dollars for shipping---

At that point, I could save up for a mini or low end iMac.

Too bad Apple won't offer a single processor tower for $1600 like they used to do.

In reality, it is probably time to embrace the Intel chips....

If Apple would update the mini with the same graphics as the MacBook and drop the price a bit, it would not be worth the cost of electricity to run a G5 unless you had a significant need to run Classic.
