In terms of customer service...
So this week Mrs Markintosh (aka montreal spiced GF) washed my Chocolate 3 phone. It went through the full on wash cycle. We immediate removed the battery, opened all ports etc and placed it near the wood stove for a couple of days to keep it warm. In the meanwhile, I activated my old phone.
For the record, the phone went through a similar wash and dry cycle about 6 weeks ago (my fault) and came out working perfect after 2 days of drying.
This morning, the Choco would not recognize the battery, but otherwise seemed to start the boot process fine. So having nothing better to do in this arm sling, took a trip to the Verizon store. Made a full confession to the laundering as the moisture dots were redder than Santa's suit.
I simply asked to borrow a battery to check to see if the phone was functional. The rep asked if I had insurance...nope. He then offered to do a courtesy replacement if I paid for a new battery. 32 bucks total. The FRU refurb was in brand new condition.
Then he offered to transfer my contacts, which often they try to charge $10 to do...and while he was at it, he transferred my pics and videos. No charge. The whole process took about 30 minutes and he made one small sale.
As much as I would like to have an iPhone...tough to beat the Verizon coverage and customer service.
