What about the folks who are at a 4 way intersection during peak traffic . 4 or six lane roads. They are stopped in the right lane. They want to take a right - but they go across all lanes during the turn to the far left one, for no good reason. Then they usually meander back to the far right lane (with no blinker). Why don't they turn, use their blinker and gradually get over to the left if need be? They are all over the road, can't seem to dirve in one lane and don't use signals. The person across (with green light) in the turning lane can't do anything because, the jerk is all over the road in the way. So he has to sit in the middle of the intersection until he can figure out where the jerk wants to be.

This also happens with folks making a left turn in a center turning lane at an intersection. They get the turn arrow, start turning left across several lanes of trafffic and instead of staying in their current lane they go all the way across to the outside lane, and then jerk back across 3 lanes into their original lane.

I have a friend in law enforcement that told me that he doesn't use signals when on duty because he doesn't want people to know where he is going. Honest to goodness truth!

I despise (not too strong a word) anyone that doesn't use them. The lack of use of signals causes as many or more near accidents (or accidents) as speeding does (from personal data mining ;-) ).

I use my signals even when in parking lots and I'm turning and am always one to comment when a friend is driving and chooses not to use them. Something along the lines of "this is a nice car but I'd have opted for the package that includes working turn signals". I'm annoying that way.

The problem with people not using their turn signals is that there is no way to signal that you're not planning to turn...

In my neighborhood there is a main road that cuts through and at one intersection nearly everyone is making a left or right turn onto the main road. On both sides of the main road the cross street has two lanes, one for a right turn and one for left or straight. It's annoying when I want to make a left and the driver across the intersection doesn't signal their left turn, and I'm left to sit until they actually start making the left turn before I can start my turn, because I can't tell what they are planning to do. However, it's worse when I want to go straight through that intersection and the driver across the way cuts their left turn in front of me because they assume I was making a left and didn't signal (or maybe they're not thinking at all...) Anyway I'm always careful at that intersection because there have been some close calls there.

As a trucker I can tell you it doesn't bother us. As long as they signal so we can say a "Hail Mary," before we smear them all over the pavement.

**Grammar is another story.

Indeed -- my grammar never uses her turn signals!

I do this sometimes, but only if I am able to accelerate away from the truck as I am pulling into its lane. If not, I won't do it; it's unfair to the trucker and unsafe for both of us.

Maybe Speedy can answer a question I've had for a long time now: What the hell is up with people who insist on traveling alongside tractor-trailers on the freeway, either directly aside or slightly aflank but always matching their speed? Do these people not understand that, in effect, they double the width of one of the slower moving vehicles on the road?
