I recently bought a LCD monitor that has beautiful color and brightness. I am running it at its max resolution: 1280 x 1024.
I like the display, but I have noticed that smoothed black text looks a little "colored." By that, I mean that I can see faint edges of color in certain parts of the letterform. Viewed from a normal distance, the type looks slightly multicolored. If it were a CRT monitor, I would say that the guns were slightly out of alignment. Another thing I noticed is that the weight of smoothed text on screen looks heavier than it should; regular weight fonts look sort of demi-bold. Of course, I could turn off text smoothing, but the text doesn't look very realistic this way, either.
These things are starting to bother me, because I don't know if they are normal or not for a 1280 x 1024 desktop on a 19" LCD.
Any opinions about this?
Monitor specs:
CMV CT-934D Silver 19" 8 ms (Tr+Tf) LCD Monitor 320 cd/m2 500:1 Built in Speakers 0.294mm Pixel Pitch
