Yeah, Saveur has some good stuff. The burger issue and the breakfast around the world issue are on my coffee table as permanent fixtures.

Carl's Jr. is my go to burger place, followed by Jack in the Box, then BK. In and Out would have made the cut if it weren't for the location. Maybe I should do a taste test when I take my trip. Grab one of my relatives and get us one burger from Carl's Jr., In and Out, Sonic and Fat Burger and see who comes out on top.:biggrin:

You know, I was a hair's breadth from listing them separately, then I caved to the not-so-wisdom-of-crowds when I kept seeing references to them as being almost one and the same. That and the Padma burger commercial that's the same for both, just rebadged for each chain. Next time.

Okay, now I have to post this for comparative purposes. McDonald's (Video. SFW. Completely non-gross out.)

Employees start at $10 an hour with some managers making almost 6 figures.
I worked next door to a McDonald's for years and got to know the owner. His manager's nudged six figures, but counter staff started near minimum wage (though that's over $9 an hour here).

Who's going to risk the heart attack by having all the burgers from the different places in one sitting to be able to "really" tell the difference?

Is the poll just meant to determine popularity or which one is really "better"?

Ann's Snack Bar (thankfully not a chain) in Atlanta is the best of the best. It's also up for sale, so get down there before Ann retires...

The poll is meant to be fun. You remember fun, right? :biggrin:

It's food. The boundaries of "better" end at the tip of your tongue. Objective standards are few and far between, if they exist at all. Talk a little trash for your team. Spread a little propaganda of love. Stick one or two recommendations in your back pocket to try someday. Double doubles, double quarter pounders, double Whoppers, but no double blind studies. Gut busters not Mythbusters.

Looks like In N Out did really well for a regional chain and maybe have been the top if Hrdees and Carl's Jr. were separate?
