Is Espson the only CD printer game in town?

LightScribe is about 20 minutes per disc to burn.

How many students do you have at the moment?

that part doesn't matter as they are all at different levels so the cd thing is something done on occassion.

i'm acquired my brother's R200. i was only going to borrow it but when he saw the real estate my taking it released and remembered that he can't remember the last time he used it, he told me not to bring it back. i assume it will need a major unclogging clean so i'm about to start and see if between the two printers i can get something working.

if i can't get something to work the new Epson is the Artisan 50. i am also intrigued by the HP that was posted. it has really good reviews on Amazon. IIRC, HP inkjet technology is less prone to clogging than the Epson but someone please correct me if i'm wrong! there don't appear to be generic carts for the HP but i think pricewise it's a wash; newer generic Epsons are more expensive than OEM HP but you need less carts in the HP.

hey poo, didn't you once hint you had a really useful unclogging routines for Epson's?

well (apologies to PeterB), apparently my brother's R200 survives not being used for a few years better than mine does a few weeks. with only three cleaning cycles bro's R200 is printing like a champ.

Why?

Speculations:

he only used Epson carts in this machine and they survive long periods of non-use better than generic carts?

he turns his machine off when he isn't using it and i don't 'cuz i'm lazy?

every machine has its own quirks and he got a more reliable one than i did?

Most likely for the first two reasons, at least that has been my experience. I have yet to see a generic cart for Epson that gets the ink completely right. And shutting off an Epson properly fully parks the heads. One thing else that helps with low usage Epson's is that the cleaning pads don't have as much ink built up in them, and on high usage printers they can be a pain to replace.

i ordered Epson ink from Amazon last night for the inherited R200. i figure since i don't use the printer that much i might as well use OEM for the reasons you state. and i'll be turning it off!

i'm still futzing with my original R200. it started giving me the 'end of useful life' error message which research reveals means the waste ink pad is full and i need to convert it to a different waste system and reset the counter. didn't even know these problems existed. and it's amazing what one can learn on YouTube!

Sam3, do you actually have this printer or was this just a search result?

btw, my R320 is 4+ years old, only cost me $25AR NIB. I use G&G carts and
turn on the printer only as needed.
Still working nicely and prints beautiful discs to boot

I recently got this printer, but due to family reasons haven't had the opportunity to install it yet. So yes, it's a search result for now.
