Don't want to turn this thread into a political debate, but wouldn't give 10 cents to the company.... owned by Peter Lewis. Google him.

I had Progressive on a Honda Silverwing scooter. When the scooter was stolen, Progressive customer service was excellent. I will definitely give Progressive serious consideration for future insurance needs.

Been with Progressive for about ten years. Someone backed into my Town & Country a couple of years ago and it was bad enough to fix. Called and they said I'd be responsible for the $500 deductible. I said we had been loyal customers for ten years with no claims so would they waive the deductible? The rep said sure, we'll do that. Made me happy...

i've been with GEICO for 30 year but a number of years ago a Progressive customer rear ended me. i was impressed by how quickly and honestly Progressive dealt with the claim. i always thought if i was looking for a new company i'd look into them.

I switched to Progressive about 10 years ago and I'm not sorry. Decent rates, and the one claim I had was handled with very little grief. The adjuster was professional and courteous. Not at all like some of the other companies I've dealt with in the past.

As a comparison, my son got hit by someone last December who had State Farm. In pretty much all of my experience trying to deal with State Farm they were unprofessional, occasionally rude, and would not listen to logic. Finally had to turn it over to my insurance company to deal with them. Would strongly recommend avoiding State Farm.
I checked rates with USAA last year, and did not find them to be particularly low, although I know they have a great reputation. I was looking for homeowners and office lease coverage as well, and it seemed like they wanted me to deal with 4 or 5 different departments, one for each type of insurance, which was too much trouble after finding that I'd not lower my auto rates. I'd look at Progressive, but we have a pretty good deal right now with a newish company (PURE) that gives us a break on auto for having homeowners with them. That would strike me as the disadvantage of going with Progressive over a multi-line company: most multi-line insurance companies will give you a break on both homeowners and auto if you get them together.

Good info, thanks. I've been with State Farm over 30 years, but always checking out others. House, RV, trucks, everything with State Farm. They've been pretty good. I have USAA accounts, so eligible but last time I checked with them, they told me since we've been with SF so long, they could not match the price! It seems like many insurance companies can be between great and awful for same company. Again, thanks for this thread!

Well, my house is with Farmer's too, so I'll need to see if dropping my car policy will affect that rate. So far though, it sounds like Progressive is pretty solid.
