""I broke the law. I have admitted that and I pleaded guilty to this crime. There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period," Huffman said in the statement. "I would like to apologize again to my daughter, my husband, my family and the educational community for my actions. And I especially want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices supporting their children.""
Took her medicine like a champ. Now... let's see what happens to the people in the universities that accepted this bribery and nonsense. The punishment for accepting a bribe should be worse than the punishment of giving the bribe.

Another slap on the wrist for a wealthy defendant.
Apologies if this gets moved to the other side.

I had to Google that name. I suppose she's not very important in the great scheme of things.

....this is for a $15,000 crime which hurt no one [ really - even though it was questionable morally ] and she is a 1st time offender.....seems on the harsh side to me.....

Those who did NOT admit guilt deserve much more, and those who TOOK the bribes also deserve much, much more. How about the affluenza teenager who killed several people? that is a slap on the wrist if you ask me.

Possibly a bit of a slap on the wrist, but in line with first time offender sentences.
She also gets a year of probation, 250 hours of community service, and a $30,000 fine. |
