Good point ztirffritz, without that option enabled, this is what I see

yes, the Attachments window is weak in that you can't resize. For the most part I have used Preview to resize then d&d to Attachments. annoying, but alas.

….in the settings……you have to check box ‘show images in post’……or some wording like that……

But these only insert links. There's no way to upload an image.

There is also a setting in the user options that controls this: Go to User Control Panel, then click on 'Edit Options' on the left side.  There is an option under Thread View Options to "Display images in posts" and "Display videos in posts".
