Yes, McD's is now Newman's (maybe organic, too?). BUT, they still have the ol' Bunn machine with the warming plate making the brew nice and acidic. I have not tried it because of that alone. I think I had a Newman's ice coffee from Mc Ds last year. It was ok.

Love my Costco French Roast prolly SBs' Whole beans ground in the Burr Grinder
Then made as a capaccino with Nestles Double choco...
Rocket Fuel with some... body and flavor... works 4 me.
Clearly quality beans, a fresh grind, quanity, tamping, filtered water
make a good cup of joe... the french press makes a fine cup also ...imho *(:>*

re/McD's and Bunn machines: Coulda swore that the new coffee "sales push" includes a new brewing and "additives" (creamer, sugar) system, and not the old bunn-o-matic bit.

Peet's aged Sumatra.
But really, this is like arguing about the best barbecue. Everyone has different tastes and coffee has a strong, unique flavor to begin with.
I had a friend who opened an independent coffee shop. About a year later he bought a bean roaster and started roasting his own beans in the shop. He noted a 20% increase in business when he was roasting presumably because of the wonderful smell it generated outside the store. Not long after, he opened a second cafe, but sold them both once he realized that roasting raw imported beans for wholesale was much simpler and more lucrative than running a retail coffee shop.
I think a French press makes the best coffee, although my sister is pretty handy with a manual Melitta. Retail- I like Dunkin Donuts.

a big part of good coffee from fast food or quickie marts is how frequently they make a fresh pot, and how often they clean the machines/carafs.
In think that 7/11 is every 15 minutes by company policy. And at McDs probably about the same.

I like Batdorf and Bronson, Costa Rica La Minita, Guatamala, etc.
I get great cheap turkish (dark roast columbian) at the farmer's market along with Ethiopian Yergecheffe and others. I buy roast chicory when they have it
I was weaned on Community Coffee in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. My grandfather used to make me "coffee milk", while he drank his black drip coffee.
Every now and again, I buy Community Medium (seems like it was In-Between-Roast) Roast. I also buy the Chicory Blend and steam my milk.
Do yourself a favor and get an Aerolatte to froth your 15 second micro-steamed 2% organic , and add your strong roast coffee to it. You get a great HOT cup of frothy fancy coffee shop style for CHEAP coffee.

Hafta check out the McD coffee. At least around my area (NH) it's the Newman's/Green Mountain coffee. I haven't tried out the McD variety, but Green Mountain is definately my number one choice when I'm brewing at home!
