So which side is the handle on if the gas cap is under the license plate on the butt of the car?

It's very easy to tell
If I am driving a rental or a borrowed car, the fill side will be on the opposite that is is on my truck. I will realize this as soon as I have pulled up to the pump and gotten out, after sitting in line waiting. Remember when pumps had those nice long hoses so it didn't matter ? : -/

I've noticed that a lot of cars will have a little triangle near the fuel gauge pointing to the correct side.

MSG, ya beat me to the punch. That's the way a lot of foreign cars work. the triangle points to the side of the car that the gas cap is on. Says so in the manual of Toyota cars. And there are a lot of them on the street these days. :driving:

Our vehicles have the triangle pointing to the proper side.
