Is this like saying something to the affect of...."someone MIGHT be able to snoop on what I do on the internet, so I will use this program to route all of my traffic through this company that WILL have access to everything I do"

I did a lot of research on this last year and went with Witopia.net. I gave hotspot shield a chance but it was doing some weird stuff on my machine...don't ask because I don't remember.
I can't recommend Witopia.net enough...very good tech support, great price and speed is fast enough.

Hotspot Shield is ad supported. Please report back once you've used it some to let us know how it works.
I have a brother who lives in China and it might be helpful to have access to a couple of proxy services when I visit him. (It hasn't been much of an issue on two past visits, but what China blocks can seem strange to us in the US.)
