Accuracy of Apple Store time estimates?

I'm in a bind, as my 3Gs got wet on my recent Ireland trip, and the backlight is essentially non-functional. I ordered a 4 on Friday, but the shipping estimate is "three weeks". I'm curious if anyone here has actual experience with the accuracy of their shipping estimates for new iPhones since the 4 came out? I'm gonna be seriously bummed & frustrated if I have to get by with this wonky device for almost a month!

Somebody give me some good news!

P.S. anyone have a guess at how much I might get for the water-damaged 3Gs on eBay or Craigslist?
