It is not expensive enough that many people return them since most of the buyers are dedicated Apple hobbyists, and the nearly obsolete hardware passed into stone axe reliability before Apple started selling them. I would guess they don't get returned for hardware problems unless someone drops one while it is writing data to the hard drive, or it got zapped in a lightning storm in the first 29 days.
The hard core hobbyists buy Dell Mini 9's for $180, install OS X, and use it as both an ATV and low end laptop.
