I suggest you go to the Medicare site http://www.medicare.gov/Default.asp and click on (Learn More About Plans In Your Area).
Now there are two supplement plans that come to mind
1) Medicare part D to help cover medications
2) Medigap insurance to help cover things that Medicare does not totally cover of which there are many.
Like AlphaDog it would help to know what state she lives in. It's a good thing you're starting now for it will take some research to decide which plan will be best for her.
Make sure she knows all her medications both drug name and the pharmaceutical name for generics are always less expensive and many plans (part D) only cover generics.
