Lanfil - I was kidding about maxing the ram - thought I'd bring the 'modern' troubleshooting to a pesky system. Hold down shift when you start up to not load any extensions and see if it looks okay? I don't remember if there was something like a Font/DA Mover that you had to use to move the extensions and control panels around, or if they were drag and droppable at that point. Ah, the old days.
