All of my shoes have some leather bits.
I pull out the insoles, clean them lightly, and toss them in the wash. I also throw in a *little* bleach. The colors are none the worse for wear.
Drying them in a dryer is a little tough on leather. I usually let them air dry in a warm room.
And if I felt like just cleaning the laces, that's all that would go in the wash. I'd probably put them in a jeans' pocket or something so they don't get wound 'round the agitator.
