Dunno... Some remastering is pretty intense. I used to work at a place where we leased a $3 million de-noise system for remastering movies and it took quite a bit of knowledge to do it well. (Since the lowest unpaid intern on the totem pole was usually assigned to the job, you can probably guess how much they cared about doing it well.)

If they did a frame-by-frame restoration from the original film and made the original soundtrack into a powerful 7:1 audio mix, that would justify a Blu-ray release.

OTOH, if they just upscaled the lousy unrestored DVD-video for Blu-ray, that would suck... and that is, of course, exactly what they did.
